Habits and Mindsets
Students reference their teacher's guidance in organization, study habits, character traits and values (like persistence, striving for accuracy, etc.). They have internalized these traits beyond just talking about them which has led to personal growth on the part of the student.
Introduction
As a Kindergarten teacher I have a great responsibility to teach my students key habits and mindsets necessary in order to be successful in school and their personal life. My students engage in multiple strategies, processes, and lessons to learn to show persistence, manage impulsivity, and to strive for accuracy. Through community meetings, home visits, school wide core values, trackers, and much more, my students are able to possess these habits and mindsets in order to complete their work and persevere through challenges in and out of school. These habits and mindsets are vital in the classroom but also for their own personal growth. Majority of my students are considered socio-economically disadvantaged and will face challenges throughout their lives. Students will be able to use and think through the habits and mindsets I have taught to overcome difficult situations and learn through experiences. My students will be able to reflect on the guidance I have provided to be able to persevere, manage impulsivity, and strive for accuracy and precision.

Conclusion
Persistence, managing impulsivity, and striving for accuracy and precision have been a focus in my classroom to raise these habits and mindsets to a conscious level for students to use in and out of the classroom. Students are not only developing within their education, but also personally. By teaching and modeling these habits and mindsets I am able to raise self-awareness within students to channel these habits and mindsets and learn to self-manage. I have seen so much personal growth within my students from the beginning of the school year to now with these habits and mindsets always in mind when teaching and through my own actions. Students are able to speak about what they are doing, why they are doing, and how it will help them in and out of the classroom. Students are growing tremendously and learning the ability to self-reflect to continuously grow.
